First MyoStrain® Cardio-Oncology Center Opens at La Milagrosa in Partnership with Vithas Group in Madrid

MORRISVILLE, N.C., June 14, 2022 – Myocardial Solutions, Inc. (MSI) announced the opening of the first MyoStrain Cardio-Oncology Center in Madrid. The Center represents a partnership between MSI and Vithas Group (Vithas), a chain of Spanish hospitals.

Vithas recently acquired the locations of GenesisCare, a global oncology treatment company, within Vithas hospitals. The initial site in Madrid is at La Milagrosa hospital and the program is headed by Dr. David Vivas.

The opportunity is to develop a Cardio-Oncology model for the Vithas hospital system that can be replicated in other sites. The clinical goal is to perform MyoStrain tests on the patient throughout the course of treatment and cardio-protect those patients that may suffer cardiotoxicity from cancer treatment. The hope is that by preserving heart function, cancer survivors will live longer and have a higher quality of life.

By having two disciplines, one treating the cancer and one with oversight for heart complications, a more holistic approach to cancer treatment may improve long term outcomes. Cardio-protecting the heart should not interfere with or interrupt the cancer treatment.
